Deena received her BA in Art History and
Studio Art from Colby College in Waterville,
Maine and continued her studies at the
Pennsylvania Academy of Fine art andTyler
School of Art. She studied for several years
in Domenic DiStephano's studio and
continues to take a variety of workshops.
As a teaching artist, Deena has experience
instructing all ages and abilities. Children's
classes usually combine science, geography
and history in keeping with her philosophy
that art is everywhere. Deena teaches at
many art centers in the Philadelphia area
and at the St. James school, an independent
middle school for traditionally underserved
youth in North Philadelphia. Deena also
completed a Watercolor Artist in residency
at the Erdenheim School in Springfield
Township, Pennsylvania.
Her classes for adults range from basic
drawing to advanced and experimental
watercolor techniques. She also teaches
adults with special needs at the Wayne Art
Center's Broaden the World program.
Deena S. Ball exhibits fine art in the Mid-
Atlantic area. Current Exhibitions are
primarily watercolor landscapes, many of
which use a textured ground and are painted
on Yupo or Strathmore Plate Bristol.
She is currently exhibiting at the Earth,
Wind and Fiber Gallery in Newtown Square,
Pa. and at the Station Gallery in Berwyn, Pa.
Last spring, she was part of a three woman
show at the Philadelphia showroom of
Thos.Moser Cabinetmakers. Her painting
“ The Rush” was recently included in the
National Watercolor Society's exhibition.
She also exhibits at numerous art festivals,
invitational and juried shows throughout the
region. She is a signature member of the
Philadelphia Water Color Society, The
Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and the
Baltimore Watercolor Society as well as a
state juried member of the Pennsylvania
Guild of Craftsmen.
Deena's watercolor paintings have been
published in Splash 12 and Splash 13 as well
as two articles in Watercolor Artist
