Texture, color and the patina of old buildings stimulate the senses and lead me to create environmental tapestries and dreamlike scenes to envelope the viewer in the image. During the course of her artistic career, she has long been fascinated in the passage of time, space and environment and its impact upon the viewer; and in the possibilities of getting the viewer to think and feel about more than what immediately hits the eye; Elisabeth wants to envelope the viewer in the image, wrap them into its environment and have them leave with a different view on their world. Elisabeth Bard studied fine art and photography at Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio. After initially working in the field for several years, she left to raise her family and to paint. She then returned to the art field as a graphic artist and has 20 plus years experience working as a designer and llustrator. During that period she also had extensive experience working with and selecting images for various publications. She returned full-time to photography during the 1990s and makes this the main focus of her creative endeavors, viewing herself primarily as an artist who just happens to use a camera. Abstracts focusing upon texture and color are her main love and focus. Elisabeth has exhibited locally, including Colorworks and Center for the Creative Arts as well as the Biggs Museum and the Delaware Art Museum, and has won several awards for her work including the prestigous Delaware Emerging Artist for Photography for 2011. She has also exhibited her photographs at the Sketch Club of Philadelphia, The Wilmington Public Library, Newark Arts Alliance as well as several other galleries in the Mid Atlantic region. She is a member of several local arts and photographic organizations in the area and is serving on several committees dealing with art exhibition.
