Our 2017 Winners

Bruno Baran

Bruno Baran is a painter and teacher of art for over 39 years practicing what he teaches with color, light and form utilizing strong compositions that make the viewer connect.I'm interested in rapidly changing color and light leading to quick brushstrokes creating an explosion of tone and hue allowing the eye to move within the painting. according to Bruno. Seeking the elusive changes that happen over short periods of time within a landscape. A strong composition makes the completed painting whole and is as important as the color and light. Bruno Baran was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1954 to Louis and Rita Baran their second son who would go on to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art and graduate cum laude in 1976, with a BFA in Art Education. He studied with Raoul Middleman, Dan Dudrow, and Joseph Sheppard among numerous other distinguished artists.
