DENISE VITOLLO PWCS DPS PPSCC MPS\ “My pastel artworks explore color and how it is influenced by light and shadow. It is my goal to convey the intense pulsations and energy I feel in the world around me. An avid boater paddle boarder and snorkeler I am fascinated with water and with marine life. Many of my works are about the peaceful meditative and graceful movements of creatures that are found in fresh and salt water”.\ When she is not painting water Ms. Vitollo loves to work in plein air. For the past nine years she has participated in Plein Air Brandywine and has also been a plein air artist with LandArt Events. She enjoys experimenting with mixed media in her studio and on location often combining watercolor or printmaking with pastels.\ In the past three years Denise has twice been juried into the Pastel Journal’s annual Pastel 100 which is considered to be the best 100 international pastels for that year. She has been accepted to national and international juried shows at the Pastel Society of America in NYC International Association of Pastel Societies Philadelphia Water Color Society’s International Works on Paper Degas Pastel Society the Connecticut Pastel Society’s Renaissance in Pastel Maryland Pastel Society and the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod. Recently Denise has received awards at the Philadelphia Pastel Society Philadelphia Water Color Society Connecticut Pastel Society Farm to Table Plein Air and the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod exhibitions. Denise is a juried Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America. She holds Signature Status with the Philadelphia Water Color Society Degas Pastel Society of NOLA Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod and the Maryland Pastel Society.\ She has taught up to the undergraduate and graduate school levels and has earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree a Master of Fine Arts Degree and a Master of Art Education Degree.
