Artist Bio Hooked on art at an early age..... a native of Georgia, Ellie Boyd sat for a portrait at age nine and has been interested in the world of art ever since. She lived in the Midwest and intensified figurative art studies prior to moving to New England in 1993 with her husband and two sons. An avid plein air painter, she formed a plein air group in 2012 Pomperaug Outdoor Painters to promote camaraderie en plein air and to aid the local land trust in its mission to conserve beautiful open spaces. Ellie maintains a studio in Connecticut, where she paints to capture the effects of light and color in the natural world. Ellie is a member of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society, the Portrait Society of America, the CT Society of Portrait Artists, the Society of Creative Arts Newtown, and the American Impressionists Society.
