After 30 years of working in mental health administration for the state of Maryland, Lissa Abrams retired in July 2011. Throughout her career she painted occasionally, while yearning to devote more time to her love of painting. Retirement has afforded Lissa the opportunity to capture the beauty of Maryland's scenery on canvas. Lissa paints in plein air in Baltimore City, on the eastern and western shores, and throughout Maryland's beautiful countryside. When she paints, she enjoys capturing the light at various times of the day through the use of bold colors. There is nothing more exciting than capturing the beauty of nature on canvasĀ. Oil paints are her preferred medium.
Lissa is a graduate of Tufts University. She has taken art courses at the Maryland Institute, College of Art, Mitchell School of Art, and currently studies with Paul Moscatt. Her work has been exhibited in local galleries and coffee houses in the Baltimore area. Lissa was a selected participant in Cylburn's 2011 and 2012 Celebration of Art, a juried participant artist in the Solomons Plein Air Festival 2012, Plein Air Brandywine October 2012, and Art Outside, Baltimore 2013. She has painted in Paint the Towns in Chestertown, Maryland 2013, Snow Hill, Maryland, 2013, New Castle, Delaware, 2013, and Chesapeake City, MD, 2011, 2012.
