Artist Kathleen Gray Farthing just can't seem to go anywhere without seeing a painting around every bend, a habit she seems to have been born into. Gravitating to art at an early age, her formal art education began in high school, and she went on to earn a B.F.A in Printmaking and Crafts from Carnegie-Mellon University. For many years, while raising her family, she ran her own graphic design business, but eventually she felt it was time to get back to her first love: oil painting. From an old college friend, she heard about the process of painting landscapes on location, or en plein air, and one taste of painting outside was all it took for her passion to ignite. Since then, Kathleen has participated in dozens of prestigious group exhibitions and juried plein air painting events, such as the Plein Air Convention and Expo, the Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition, and the Parrsboro Plein Air Competition, where she has won several significant awards. Kathleen is a member of the American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, the Ohio Plein Air Society, and Crooked River Artists. When she's not on the road or out painting on location, Kathleen spends her time with her family in northeast Ohio. To learn more about the artist, visit her website at kathleengrayfarthing.com.
