Monique Kendikian-Sarkessian

Monique Kendikian-Sarkessian www.MoniqueKendikianSarkessian.com Studio#610-457-7707 A Philadelphia artist who creates vibrant oil and encaustic wax paintings and salvaged metal sculptures that express the joy found in revealing the divine in everyday life. Monique Kendikian-Sarkessian earned her bachelor of fine arts degree in painting at Temple Universitys Tyler School of Art. In continuing studies she has studied 18th Century European furniture painting, art education, and traditional icon painting. Since 1984, Moniques work has been shown and honored with awards at numerous exhibitions across the country: in New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Boston, Delaware and Philadelphia areas. Some of her recent awards include second place for painting out of 84 painters in the inaugural Plein Air Brandywine Valley Art Competition, 3rd place in Plein Air Brandywine Valley 2013 as well as awards by Artists Equity, Delaware Valley Art League, Main Line Art Center and Chester County Art Association. By the Artist on her work: I find my greatest fulfillment by using the gifts and talents God has given me to glorify Him, and to share His love with other people. In my paintings I seek to express the truth and beauty of creation and the Divine handiwork of God. Its not about me, what I can do; its about what Christ can do through me. Artist Statement The true work of art is but a shadow of the divine perfection. Michelangelo My work is characterized by its expressive nature in my use of vibrant color, bold brush stroke, and expressive lines which seek to recreate the emotion I feel as I am inspired by my subjects. One of my missions is to express the truth of Gods evidence in creation and when painting natural subjects in person, that truth is undeniable. When you really observe over a period of time, the variety, lushness, beauty of design and color are beyond human comprehension. www.moniquekendikiansarkessian.com
