Mick McAndrews  Artist Biography<br><br><br>Mick's award winning paintings strive to capture the mood and atmosphere of a subject making use of personal insight and reverence for the principles of design, creating works of sophisticated simplicity. He is equally inspired by the natural surroundings of a landscape or seascape as by cities bustling with people and activity.<br><br>Mick believes that the activity of painting serves as the best teacher and he strives to find time each day to draw and paint.  He continues to challenge himself with ever more difficult subject matter to push his creative edge.<br><br>Mick is a signature member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, the Philadelphia Water Color Society and the Baltimore Watercolor Society, and he is an Artist Member of the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association.<br><br>Mick is on the teaching staff of Historic Yellow Springs in Chester Springs, PA, where he teaches watercolor and leads an annual plein air workshop.  Mick has been an invited demonstration and workshop artist for many prestigious art societies, organizations and galleries.<br><br>The following are recent artistic accomplishments:<br>-      Accepted 148th Annual Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society<br>-      First Prize, Artist's Choice and 2nd Prize Quick Draw  2015 Mountain Maryland Plein Air<br>-      Published article in June/July 2015 issue of Plein Air Magazine<br>-      Selected for publication in Splash 17<br>-      National Watercolor Society Award for Excellence in Watermedia  Philadelphia Water Color Society 114th Annual International Exhibition of Works on Paper<br>-      Robert Gutherie Memorial Award, 3rd Prize Quick Draw  2014 Solomons Plein Air<br>-      First Prize  Delaware Valley Art League Juried Exhibition at West Chester University<br>
