Much like the impressionists who first ventured out into nature with their easels and paints in tow, I too am greatly inspired by outdoor light and true colors of the landscape. I express myself through bold color choices and decisive brushwork. My inspiration for painting is to express the poetic relationships and melodies of light and color found in nature. I choose a variety of subject matter yet have a particular interest in sunrise/sunset paintings and maritime scenes.
Born abroad and raised in Clarksville, Maryland, I now live in Washington, DC. I hold a B.A. in Art and Art History from University of Maryland, College Park and have studied with internationally acclaimed artists in the US and abroad. Growing up I was impressed by the physical beauty surrounding me and by the art of my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who`s paintings and passions enchanted me throughout my youth. Artists who have been an inspiration include Paul Cezanne, Vincent Van Gogh, Anders Zorn, Kim English, and Clyde Aspevig.
