Brief Artistic Biography, Deb Stuckey
Art has always been a part of my life, whether suggesting illustrations for the children's books I authored when my own children were toddlers, or handling the graphics for our family run screen printing and embroidery business or completing murals for clients that run the gamut from private homes to large commercial spaces. It is only in recent years that I have discovered the world of plein air events and have made a concerted effort to take my gifts public.

My style meanders happily from the riveting process of realistically portraying the thing in front of me to the joyful abandon of experimentation with the characteristics of paint, and usually settles in a pleasant juxtaposition somewhere in the middle. I am constantly exploring new media and utilize anything that enables me to get close to my vision. A favorite technique I currently employ is to begin a realistic portrayal over an earlier abstract experiment, allowing the colors of the first painting to sing through to the final product and create areas of mystery and interest.
