Luo Hong (Laura) concentrates on floral, portrait and landscape paintings. Her mentors include the American still-life painter David Leffel and the oil painter ZhangWen Xin. Her paintings reflect the realistic techniques currently emphasized in China, while incorporating the modern impressionist styles of the West. Her artistic language reflects her deep emotional intensity that gives the vivacity of life. Her brushstrokes are loaded with her passion and the subtlety of nature. Her collectors are fascinated with her poetic interpretation of life and love, and especially, her aesthetic sensitivity of colors. Her works have been sold nationwide, such as in New York, Connecticut, North Carolina, California, Santa Fe, Taos, Utah, Oklahoma and Wyoming.
Education
Luo Hong was born in 1960 in Wuhan of Hubei province in the People's Republic of China. After joining the army, she studied painting under Guan Wei Xing, one of the most renowned artists in China. Her studies focused on utilizing basic techniques in printmaking. In 1985 she enrolled in the Fine Arts Department of Henan University with a major in printmaking and graduated in 1989. In 1991 she came to the United States and attended the Western Wyoming Community College to study oil painting. She returned to China from 1995 to 1996 to major in oil painting in the graduate art program at Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. Her honors in China include numerous national awards. Two of her prints are in the collection of the National Art Museum of China in Beijing.
