Daniel Jay Freed is an emerging artist living in West Chester. He creates an unusually eclectic array of oil paintings ranging from slightly surreal and humorous story based concepts, landscapes that are a mix of imagination, design and reality, as well as still life and plein air subjects. An example of a story based painting is The Balloon Thief in which a dog and his boy owner have stolen a bunch of balloons from a beach vendor. Dan refers to his story based approach as Odd little stories that wouldn`t stay put. He calls his method Organic Imagination because ideas and compositions form in a variety ways, and he doesn`t set limits on styles or technique (and because it sounds fancy!).
